With the World Cup upon us, Brazilian fever has spread all over the world! It involves just two things: major celebrations and tons of soccer-centered conversations.
If you didn’t make it to Brazil for the actual matches, here are the best recipes for refreshing Brazilian cocktails to help you enjoy your favorite sport and celebrate all along the way! Saúde!
1. Caipirinha
Obviously, we needed to start our list with Brazil’s national cocktail. The name of the drink comes from the work caipira, which denotes someone from the countryside, and it is a common Carnavale drink.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. Cachaça,
- ½ lime cut into 4 wedges
- 2 teaspoons of sugar
- Crushed ice
Put the lime wedges in a glass and add the sugar. Crush the lime with a muddler (bastonete) so that it blends with the sugar. Fill the glass with crushed ice and add the Cachaça. Serve with 2 short straws.
2. Leite de Onça
‘Jaguar Milk’ is a mixture of Cachaça and condensed milk; it is a very sweet drink with a mild flavor. If you have a sweet tooth you will definitely enjoy this one.
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Cachaça
- 1 oz. milk
- 1 oz. cocoa liqueur
- ½ oz. sweetened condensed milk
Blend the regular milk and condensed milk. Add the Cachaça and allow to rest. Add the cocoa liqueur just before serving.
3. Caju Amigo or Cajuzinho
This drink is a shooter made of Cachaça and cashew juice. In some places the juice is replaced by a slice of cashew that you put in your mouth and swallow together with a shot of Cachaça.
Ingredients:
- ½ oz. Cachaça
- ½ oz. cashew juice
Mix the Cachaça and juice in a shot glass and serve straight.
Now you have all the information you need to be the ultimate bartender during the World Cup! Cheer your team on and enjoy the excitement of the games with your friends and family!
