Island Time Music and Fishing Fest

Island Time Music & Fishing Fest

Multi-activity festivals have been in vogue lately and Riviera Maya could not be the exception. This time, Riviera Maya aims to help children with special needs while holding exciting events, such as sport fishing for amateurs and pros, music and artful performances for an outstanding experience at: Island Time Music and Fishing Fest.

Every year, Nashville, Tennessee is made present in the Mexican Caribbean with a “taste” of their rhythm bringing together important Country Music singers from different parts, to delight the audience with pleasant musical tones and presentations. The Island Time Music and Fishing Fest is already becoming a tradition in Riviera Maya, with almost a decade of taking place.

The 2016 edition will be carried out from February 15th to 20th, and it will deck out with grand participations such as that from the former American Idol contestant, Kellie Pickler, the  songwriters Left and Theft; Jerrod Niemann, Kyle Jacobs, American Young, Billy Blackjack and many more.

Lovers of the sea and sport fishing will have the chance to set sails to find the first place on a Tournament that has been divided in two categories: Award the achievement of largest quantity of fish catched -to be released afterwards; and a second award to the largest weight for tuna, wahoo fish and mackerel fish.

So far I’ve only mentioned details of the event, but would be worth it to mention the institution that makes this event possible: Little Yellow School. This support center provides psycho-pedagogical orientation for children with special abilities, physical problems as well as emotional and learning problems.

Three groups benefit from this institution. 1. Children who are not able to attend public schools which lack specialized education programs; 2. Children who attend schools on a  regular basis, but present hyperactivity and attention deficit disorder, dyslexia, to name a few; 3. Preschool children with physical and mental impairment or illness.

Contributions and active fundraising allow this Festival to keep on the loop and attract visitors from around the world.
