Festivities at Velas Vallarta

Velas Vallarta begins the celebrations with a lively Halloween party at the Kids’ Club on October 31st, featuring a pumpkin-painting contest. On November 1st and 2nd, the spirit of Día de Muertos will be celebrated through art, and all guests will be invited to paint traditional Mexican calaveras (skulls) in the gardens. A standout event is the display of iconic catrina sculptures, accompanied by expert guides who share the rich cultural stories behind them. The day concludes with an ancestral dinner, enhanced by mariachi music, celebrating Mexican culinary traditions.

A Celebration of Mixology

From October 31st to November 2nd, the second edition of Mexology Fest takes place at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, merging Día de Muertos traditions with creative cocktails. This immersive event features tastings, cocktail-making workshops, and exclusive collaborations with top mixologists, including one from the 50 Best Bars in North America. Sip on inventive drinks while enjoying themed nights dedicated to the elegant catrina. Guests can also explore the town of Tequila, Jalisco, home to Mexico’s famed spirit, as part of this unique celebration.

The Mysticism of Life

At Grand Velas Los Cabos, a captivating poolside catrina parade on November 2nd showcases dancers and musicians celebrating the mystical beauty of Día de Muertos. Mixology classes introduce guests to traditional Mexican drinks like mezcalate and pozol, while Frida, the resort’s Mexican restaurant, offers a unique menu as a tribute to the holiday. Nearby, Mar del Cabo enhances the festivities with a themed feast, live music, and a guided tour of beautifully decorated altars.

Spooky Fun for All

Grand Velas Riviera Maya elevates the holiday with a traditional altar dedicated to the hummingbird—symbolizing souls visiting loved ones on Earth—revealed on October 30th. Guests can leave messages on a wishing tree, keeping the memory of their ancestors alive. Families will love the Halloween activities, including trick-or-treating, Halloween crafts, cookie decorating, and a cozy “Spooky Cinema” night under the stars.

At all Velas Resorts, you will be treated to freshly baked pan de muerto, traditional dishes, and stunning altars that honor the significance of this cherished holiday.
